Rano Officially Opens Jakarta Film Week 2025

Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno officially opened Jakarta Film Week (JFW) 2025 at CGV Grand Indonesia, Menteng, Central Jakarta, yesterday.

The film screenings will be held until Sunday (10/26) at six locations: CGV Grand Indonesia, Galeri Indonesia Kaya, Harris FX Sudirman, Taman Ismail Marzuki, Mercure Jakarta Cikini, and FFTV Jakarta Arts Institute. The same screenings is also available online via the vidio.com app from December 22 to 31.
"Now I am 56 years old. Maybe this is the end of my career to prepare Jakarta as a city of cinema," he expressed.
Jakarta Eyes Future as a Cinema CityOn that occasion, he expressed appreciation and gratitude to the initiators of JFW and the Culture Ministry who continue to build culture through film. Until now, film has not been seen as a significant potential.
Therefore, he admitted to utilizing the Policy Discussion Forum of the Jakarta Economic Forum (JEF) 2025, organized by Jakarta Branch Bank Indonesia (BI) Representative, to showcase the potential of the film industry. Besides shocking the audience, he also explained that so far, films have been made without financing from banking institutions.
"When I presented it, I was surprised, and starting tomorrow, BI will hold a symposium to discuss how filmmaking is done in Indonesia," he added.
By so, Rano appreciated JFW's efforts to continue presenting films for its community. He emphasized that those who currently participate, get involved, and choose films as their field of interest are not wrong.
He ensures that during his tenure as Deputy Governor alongside Governor Pramono Anung, Jakarta Film Week will continue to exist.
He even emphasized that he will continue to enhance activities and participation so that residents know Jakarta deserves to be a city of cinema.
"Thank you. By saying Bismillahirrahmanirrahim (in the name of Allah, the most gracious, the most merciful), I officially declare Jakarta Film Week 2025 open," he stated.
